The Mizoram State Museum has Mizo tribal artifacts, traditional costumes, musical instruments and a natural history section. The Solomon's Temple (in Chaltlang) is a 2,000-seat church with a Bible museum (with a 4 ft bronze Bible). The Bara Bazaar is the main market. The local craft includes Mizo shawls, bamboo baskets and handloom textiles. The Mizo Sunday (Sunday is strictly observed — most shops close).
The Durtlang Hills (5 km from the city) provide a panoramic view of Aizawl and the surrounding valleys. The Reiek Tlang (30 km) is a hill with a trek to the top. The Tamdil Lake (60 km) is a natural lake with boating. The Vantawng Falls (130 km) is the highest waterfall in Mizoram. The city itself is set on a ridge — the views from anywhere in the city are impressive.
How to reach
Aizawl has Lengpui Airport (35 km) with flights from Delhi, Kolkata and Guwahati (1 hour, ₹3,000-6,000). Buses from Guwahati (12-14 hours, ₹500-700) and Silchar (6 hours) connect. The nearest railway station is Bairabi (80 km) or Silchar (170 km).

When to go
October to April is best. November-February is pleasant (10-20°C). July-September is monsoon — rains are heavy. March-April has the Chapelhar Kut festival (a spring festival with bamboo dances). December 1 is the State Day with parades.
