Why go

Leisure

Coorg produces some of the best coffee in India. Most homestays are on coffee plantations and offer plantation walks. The coffee season (November-February) is when the berries are being harvested and processed. The aroma of coffee roasting in the mornings is the signature Coorg experience.

Adventure

The Tadiandamol trek (4-5 hours) is the highest peak in Coorg at 1,748 m. The Dubare Elephant Camp on the Kaveri River offers elephant bathing and feeding. The Abbey Falls (15 m) and Iruppu Falls (20 m) are scenic waterfalls. The Nagarhole National Park has jeep safaris for tiger and elephant sightings.

How to reach

The nearest railway station is Mysore (120 km) or Mangalore (135 km). Buses from Bangalore to Madikeri take 5-6 hours (₹300-500). The nearest airport is Mangalore (135 km) or Bangalore (260 km). Coorg is well connected by KSRTC buses.
