Why go
Jahaz Mahal is a long sandstone palace built between two lakes — it looks like a ship floating on water. Roopmati Pavilion is a marble palace on a hill overlooking the Narmada valley. Hoshang Shah's Tomb is the first marble structure in India and a precursor to the Taj Mahal. The Hindola Mahal (Swinging Palace) has sloping walls that create an illusion of movement.
Mandu is set between the Rewa Kund lake and the Munj Talao lake. The hills provide views of the surrounding countryside. The 14 km fortress wall has 12 gates. The sunset from the Roopmati Pavilion overlooks the Narmada valley — the best view in Mandu.
