- Trek opens only from June 1 to October 10 each year
- Acclimatize properly - Hemkund Sahib at 4,632m can cause AMS
- Carry rain gear - monsoon trek with daily rain expected
- The 6 km Hemkund Sahib section gains 1,580m elevation - very steep
- Carry insect repellent, sunscreen, and adequate water
