Permits & reaching base

Forest check-post entry ticket at Jobra and Manali, plus Chandratal Wildlife Sanctuary fee for the lake extension.

Base: Manali. Take the train to Chandigarh or Joginder Nagar and the bus to Manali, or fly to Bhuntar (KUU) and drive to Manali. Take a local cab from Manali to Jobra roadhead to start, and return from Chhatru by road to Manali.
